The ancient Romans loved myths and legends. As Rome grew and became great, the Romans invented a myth to explain why they had the right to rule everyone else. This was the myth they created, the myth of Romulus and Remus.
ReplyDeleteThe story of Romulus and Remus: The origin of Rome
Rhea was a princess and a mortal woman who was married to Mars, the Roman god of war. Rhea and Mars had twin sons and named them Romulus and Remus. Some of the other gods were jealous of Mars and Rhea, and plotted to kill Romulus and Remus. Rhea heard about the plot. Since Mars was away she needed to protect the boys. She put them in a basket and set it floating down the river hoping that they would be found. They were found by a female wolf who decided to raise them as her own cubs. After the boys had grown some the wolf knew she couldn't keep them so she put them where a shepherd would find them. The shepherd and his wife continued to raise Romulus and Remus.
As the boys grew into manhood, they decided to build a city and rule it as its king. They had a contest to see who would be the top king. When it appeared that Remus was going to win the contest, Romulus got so angry that he killed Remus with a rock and became the first king of Rome. This is an important story for Romans since their city was started by the son of a god it had to be more powerful than any other city.
Now look at the names Romulus and Rome. This is supposed to be how Rome got its name.
Wonderful work

ReplyDeleteA Book Review on my Favourite Poem: TRAINS written By Humayun Kabir
This poem tells us about a child's fascination on Trains. In this poem there are two different types of trains which the author or the child speaks about.
In the first stanza a goods train is notified. The goods train are compared to Elephants as they move in a slow-orderly manner. They further explain that the goods trains have no windows or no shining lamps. In this stanza Simile,Personification, Visual Imagery and Sound imagery are the figures of speech used..
In the 2nd stanza the child speaks or tells about the passenger train. This train is compared to Marriage procession in this stanza. The child explains that the passenger train has many windows and are lit by many lamps. These passenger trains move very fast as they come flashing past. The wheels of a passenger train sound like Rhythmic Beats.....
In the 3rd Stanza the child tells us that on hot afternoons when the people around the world take a nap only the tireless trains march on and on, on their railway tracks. The child further tells us that the crows doze [ take a nap] and forget to Caw while the dogs lie in the shade with their hanging tongues due to thirst.. In this stanza internal rhyme is used. The internal Rhyme used in this stanza is CROWS DOZE. Internal rhyme occurs between a line of verses in a poem..........
In the 4th stanza the child tell us that during the night time he hears the rumbling sound of the train through a low distant. The child further tells us that the moonlight seems to be flickering as the trains pass by or the clouds that appear to hide the moon. Through this flickering moonlight, moves a long, shadowy outline from a far distant. He compares the train to Huge Serpents[Snake] which appear to be crawling through the night...........
In the Last Stanza, the 5th stanza the poet says that the trains bore their way through hills and roar over the bridges across the mighty streams. They crash through forests and plains..We can conclude that the trains explained in the last stanza is a passenger trains as it roars over bridges and crash through forests...The poet tells us that the trains go day and night.
The poet leaves us in a conclusion as to where these tireless Trains go and finally rest?
this is a poem I wrote for environmental day

I wrote a poem on a small sparrow sitting on a rock.
ReplyDeleteOde to Sparrow
Oh my little sparrow,
gazing the rock's shadow,
how wonderful you are,
with your tiny little beak
with which you eat and squeak.
How pretty you are,
with your cute sparkling eyes,
with which you attract everyone's eyes.
How beautiful you are
with your cute little body,
with which you dance in front of everybody.
How adorable you are
by your naughty nature,
which shows me that you are a naughty little creature.
How I wish I was a sparrow,
wonderful, beautiful and adorable
as you are my little one.

OUR DOCTORS
ReplyDeleteDetermination is their drive,
For our safety they strive.
To help one and another,
To take humanity further.
They are our heroes,
Good deeds are far from zero.
Risking their own lives,
To keep someone alive.
They are our doctors
Who need to be honored.

ReplyDeleteTHE PRESENT WORLD
ReplyDeleteThere was a world,
A different one,
With way more peace and joy........
A colorful ambiance,
Not one sight of terror and fright,
But that feeling,
Disappeared through the night.
Now not a villain but so,
The smallest of the small.
Invades our sleep,
Fills our minds with anxiety.
It is known to the people,
As a deadly virus,
But its name I cannot reveal,
As it acts as a bad luck to me.
Now we pray day and night,
That this virus leaves soon,
So we can call this era,
A pandemic that once existed.....
