Recently I have read the book ‘Sense and Sensibility’ by Jane Austen.
ReplyDeleteThis book is one about family life, romance, and mystery. Jane Austen uses a sharp, witty diction and dramatic plot twists to comment on the quirks of life in the Georgian Era.
I really recommend you all to read this book. With great vocabulary in this book, you can improve your English. I am really fond of this book!
~ Evelyn
I read a book called 'The Sea Sisters' by Lucy Clarke.
ReplyDeleteIt is the best novel I have read so far, and it tells us about the deep relationship between two sisters.
All the deep secrets, relations, dark feelings etc. No one knows what's the actual thing, they only see what the sisters SHOW them...
It's a very interesting book, and it keeps your eyes on the pages! :)
I recommend senior school students to read this book for sure, as it is made for a bit high age level group, not for middle schoolers.
But, it's awesome!
"A DAY IN THE COUNTRY" BY ANTON CHEKHOV :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching story. It is just a single day, when a heavy, but short rainstorm hits this tiny village. Young Danika has gotten his arm caught in a tree. Even younger little Fyokla has raced to the village to find the kind Terenty, a cobbler. Despite the rain, he hurries with Fyokla to free Danika. Then they walk and talk after the rain, and the children learn much from him about nature. Later that night the kind Terenty comes quietly into the barn where the orphans are sleeping and leaves them some bread for the morning.
Pollution doesn’t only affect humans, it also affects animals and nature. In the story, bees and ants homes become flooded and destroyed by the vicious storm. The trees become damaged and weak. Branches snap and fall off. Leaves get damaged and fly off.
Fyokla has swelling on her neck caused by the rain trickling off the Spanish flies and on some tree wood which has then dropped onto Fyokla’s neck.
After the storm, the children are interested in how a train can move without the help of a horse to drag it when they see one racing by. There is no secret in nature that frustrates Terenty. He knows everything including the names of all the wildflowers, animals and stones. He knows what herbs cure diseases. He knows by looking at the sunset, the moon, and the birds, what the weather will be the next day.
I feel this story explains the beauty of nature and also the harshness of it. It shows how pollution has an impact on everything on the planet. The characters, I believe, were shown to feel and react as any normal child would in their situation.
I would suggest that teens and adults read this short story, as it builds knowledge on the topic of pollution. It also teaches people, especially children about how to be more protective of the environment due to the dangers of pollution. Also, it shows how working together can build a stronger relationship and form stronger friendships.
Great work everyone. Keep it up!!
ReplyDeleteThank You! :)
